A Week of Gratitude

I will do my best to keep it short and sweet. This week at thecnnekt, Em and I will be sharing our stories on gratitude because come Thursday, most of us will feasting a seasonal meal and spending quality time with our family and friends. We're calling it the Week of Gratitude.

Personally, Thanksgiving is just another Thursday to me. My whole reasoning for this is because I genuinely believe you should acknowledge your blessings and gratitudes everyday, or at least regularly than just one day over glorious food out of "obligation."

Anyway - I do have a lot to be grateful for. 2016 has been a life-changing year for me - so many highs and at the same time, lows. This all resulted in me being a better woman, though. So I ain't mad.

A short (and obvious) list of things I am grateful for:

  1. Family - especially my mom and little brother who have been my greatest cheerleaders as of late. They continuously support me through my shenanigans and keep it real with me!
  2. Emily - she's my right-hand, my go to. She knows how much I appreciate and love her because I text her sappy ass messages all the time. So this is not new! But seriously, thankful to have a biz partner who shares the same work ethnic and passion as much as I do for something we created and continue to build.
  3. Community and friends - honestly, our success would not be at this rate without you all. Thank you so much for tuning in and putting up with us on your social account feeds. To our wonderful writers, I am so grateful that you are willing to share your personal experiences and thoughts to the unknown and more importantly, being vulnerable with us and thecnnekt community. I am just so utterly thankful to have a group of women like this!

These were instant things I can think of as Em and I were discussing what to put out for this week. I know, I know, it's brief, but I keep a running list on my phone. I count my blessings every morning. I know, crazy right? This has been a practice I've cultivated in 2013 and just out of habit has been ongoing. It makes me happy and puts myself in check - "Dude Chary you don't have it bad."

As a tiny challenge for you all - I encourage you all to partake in the Week of Gratitude. Count your gratitude everyday - even little things like running into the train seconds before the door closes to that extra snooze in the cold morning.

Happy Week of Gratitude!
